Mother's Day is a day to thank mothers. This holiday first appeared in ancient Greece; while modern Mother's Day originated in the United States and is the second Sunday in May every year. The full name of NMN is β-nicotinamide mononucleotide (English name β- Nicotinamide Mononucleotide, NMN for short), which exists in some fruits, vegetables and poultry. Metabolism-related important coenzyme NAD+.

Studies have confirmed that intracellular NAD+ content decreases with age, and exogenous supplementation of NMN is believed to have the effect of strengthening human cell function.

 

There are three production methods for NMN raw materials.

 

First, it is a chemical synthesis. The method is simple in process and low in cost. It is mainly completed by the reaction between compounds, and various organic solvents are needed as a medium. In principle, the application of new food raw materials for compounds obtained by chemical synthesis process is generally not approved, so it is not recommended to use NMN raw materials produced by chemical synthesis.

 

The second is fermentation. Produced in a manner similar to winemaking with the help of microorganisms. This method has low production efficiency and high cost of raw materials, which is not conducive to industrial scale production.

 

The third is biological enzyme catalysis. The process does not rely on microorganisms, but through specific engineered enzymes, biosynthetic production. The NMN raw material produced by this method is of high purity, the production method is relatively mild, and the whole process is slow and long-lasting. On the basis of this method, scientists have applied the enzyme directed evolution technology, which has greatly improved the production

efficiency and product quality. The biological enzyme catalysis method is a relatively common production method at present, with a high threshold, and several key catalytic enzymes are expensive, accounting for about 80% of the cost of the entire production process, but it is also the safest and most

efficient production method.

 

In the field of scientific research, NMN has become a good medicine to solve many problems, but for ordinary people, the first concern is always - is it really safe to take NMN for a long time?

 

In this study, the NMN group took 250 mg/day for 12 weeks, and the supplement intake rate was over 95%. Furthermore, this study does not appear to have any quantitative issues compared to previous studies, nor does it report adverse effects from ingesting NMN.

 

In 2019, Junichiro Irie et al. of Keio University School of Medicine in Japan published the results of the first human clinical trial of NMN, proving that a single oral dose of 100mg, 250mg and 500mg of NMN can be efficiently metabolized by the human body without side effects.
